I am currently in my 8th year of teaching, having taught preschool, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and special education.  This is my first year at Par Excellence.  I spent four years teaching in Savannah, Georgia while my husband was in the U.S. Army.  I have also taught at Flying Colors Preschool in Newark and Pataskala, as well as Utica Elementary in Utica.  I truly love teaching children and could not imagine myself in any other profession.  I enjoy coming up with new and exciting ways to teach the same old stuff, as well as brainstorming ways to help struggling learners.  Seeing students get excited about learning and watching the light bulb light up as they suddenly "get it," are some of the best rewards of teaching.
Originally from Ashland, Ohio, I now live in Newark, Ohio with my husband, Jim, and our three year old daughter, Allie.  We have two cats, Anthony and Brutus, and one dog, Kya.  I enjoy spending time with my family, shopping (mostly bargain-hunting!), going to festivals and fairs, scrapbooking, and being "crafty."   I graduated in 2002 from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, and am looking to pursue my Master's Degree in Reading in the near future.
